Ugliness in architecture in the Australian, American, British and Italian milieus: Subtopia between the 1950s and the 1970s

Abstract: The article examines the reorientations of the appreciation of ugliness within different national contexts in a comparative and relational frame, juxtaposing the Australian, American, British and Italian milieus. It also explores the ways in which the transformation of the urban fabric and the effect of suburbanization were perceived in the aforementioned national contexts.
