A series of isostructural oxalates of Th, U, Np, and Pu have been synthesized. The crystal structure of {C(NH(2))(3)}(4)[An(C(2)O(4))(4)]·2H(2)O comprises infinite [An(C(2)O(4))(4)](4n-) chains, guanidinium cations and water molecules. Each An atom is connected to five oxalate anions, two of which act as bridging tetradentate ligands, while the other three function as terminating bidentate ligands. Electron and IR spectra of the compounds as well as the results of thermal analysis correlate with their structure. An actinide contraction effect is demonstrated by a decrease in the An-O interatomic distances and the volumes of An atom coordination polyhedra and Voronoi-Dirichlet polyhedra. Ten-coordinate An oxalates are discussed in terms of continuous shape measures approach.

Die Sulfate des vierwertigen Urans (Uranosulfate) sind in neuerer Zeit hanptsachlich ron R y r o u b o f f ' ) , von K o h ls c h i i t t e r 2 ) und von G i o l i t t i mit Bucci3) und mit L i b e r i 4 ) untersncht worden. Kurz zusammengefabt ergibt sich aus K o h l s c h i i t t e r s Arbeit, da13 bei der Behandlung von Uranooxalat mit konz. SchwefelsLure nach dem Eingieben des Beaktionsprodukts in Alli-oh01 sich das Tetrahydrat U(SO,), .4H20 abscheidet, das in 2 Formen auftritt, namlich als hellgriinliches Krystallpulver, loslich in verdunnter Schwefelsaure, und ferner in dunkelgrauen Krystallen, die in Schwefelsiure unloslich sind. K o h l s c h i i t t e r nimnit an, da8 letztere eine polymere Nodifiliation darstellen. -Vie1 eingehender haben sich G i o l i t t i nnd seine Mitarbeiter rnit den Uranosnlfaten beschiftigt. Sie stndieren zunachst die Bildungsbedingungen fur die beiden seit langer Zeit bekannten und bestandigsten Hydrate, das Octound das Tetrahydrat. Hierbei zeigt sich, daO das meist angewandte L)arstellungsverfahren, das auf der Reduktion einer sauren Uranylsulfatlosung rnit Alkohol unter der katalysierenden Einwirkung des Sonnenlichtes beruht, bei verhaltnismaflig geringen Anderungen der Konzentration der aufeinander einwirkenden Stoffe zu den verschiedensten Ergebnissen fiihrt. So konnten neben dem S-und dem 4-Hydrat noch ein 6nnd ein 5-Hydrat, sowie basische Sulfate erhalten werden j), ohne da13 sich bei der groben Mannigfaltigkeit der bei dieseu Tersuchen auftretenden festen Phasen, die Existenzbedingungen niit Sicherl) W y r o u b o f f , Bull. soc. minkral. 32, 340 (1909).3 Hierzu kommt noch das von R a m m e l s b e r g (Sitzuagsber. Akad.Berlin 1886, 603) dargestellte uubestandige 9-Hydrat uud das von K o h ls c h i i t t e r (B. 34, 3619 [1901]) erhaltene 2-Hydrat.
