UCC: UML profile to cloud computing modeling: Using stereotypes and tag values

Abstract: Today cloud computing has become one of the common technologies that most of the companies want to migrate their legacy systems or deploy their new system to it. Besides modeling the system, software designers need to model the deployment infrastructure, which their system will be deployed on it. In this paper first of all we presented and categorized the requirements of modeling cloud and then illustrated how the software designer can use the advantages of UML's extendibility to model the deployment of cloud … Show more

“…Infrastructure denotes whether the work provides the mechanisms to model a cloud computing infrastructure. In this case, besides the current work, only Kamali, Mohammadi & Barforoush (2014) through UML profiles and Bergmayr et al (2014) via the CAML language support modeling infrastructures. User interaction indicates whether the proposal supports modeling the communications between the users and the cloud service provider.…”

“…Regarding cloud modeling, different UML profiles have been proposed for modeling multiple aspects of a cloud system. Kamali, Mohammadi & Barforoush (2014) present a UML profile to model the deployment of a system in the cloud. It allows the modeling of instances and the infrastructure offered as a service.…”

“…For this reason, it is not easy to use CAML in reality. Kamali et al [11] develops cloud applications by identifying and designing nine requirements for designing, executing and managing cloud applications. As this method is limited to deployment modeling only, this does not support the overall modeling process for cloud applications.…”
