Abstract: Pathological processing of tau protein during the formation and maturation of neurofibrillary tangles (NFTs) includes abnormal phosphorylation, conformational changes and truncation of the C-terminus at aspartic-acid(421) (apoptotic product) and glutamic-acid(391) residues.
