Die vorliegende Arbeit wurde in Angriff genommen, urn durch die Synthese des Hexa-cyclohexyl-athans einen Beitrag zur Theorie der freien Radikale zu liefern. Da jedoch iiber Tri-cyclohexyl-methan und das Verhalten seiner Derivate bisher nichts bekannt war, wurden die Resultate hieriiber in der vorliegenden Arbeit xusammengestellt. Uber das Hexa-cyclohexyl-athan wird dann in einer weiteren Arbeit berichtet werden.Tri-cyclohexyl-methan ist von I p a t i e w und Doghoff') beschrieben worden; sie geben an, dasselbe bei der katalytischen Hydrierung von Tri-phenyl-methan bei einem Druck von 80-100 Atm.und 275O neben Verkrackungsprodukten mit dem Schmelzp. 47,5O erbalten zu haben. Zelinsky*) versuchte aus dem Ipatiewschen Produkt Derivate darzustellen. D a jedoch das von I p a t i e w erbaltene Produkt keinesfalls reines Tri-cyclohexyl-methan war, konnten auch die Angaben Z e l i n s k y s iibar Derivate desselben einer Nachprufung nicht standhalten.
