The supramolecular assembly of octyl-, hexadecyl-, and benzyl-substituted complementary tectonics based upon barbiturates (BA) and 2,4,6-triaminopyrimidines (TP) were studied in bulk, in cyclohexane, and in a polypropylene matrix. As evidenced by means of wide-angle X-ray scattering, FTIR spectroscopy, and atomic force microscopy (AFM), BA/TP assembly led to the formation of nanofibrillated superstructures, whereas the individual BA and TP components exhibited layered superstructures. Nanostructure formation resulting from BA/TP assembly in polypropylene melt accounted for nucleation of polypropylene crystallization, especially when using benzyl-substituted BA and TP derivatives instead of the corresponding n-alkyl-substituted derivatives. As a function of the benzyl ring substitution pattern it was possible to vary interlayer spacing and to influence nucleation with optimum nucleation efficiency observed for 1.61 nm spacing in the case of MeBz-BA/Bz-TP. Injection molding in the presence of MeBz-BA/Bz-TP and of Bz-BA/MeBz-TP assemblies revealed increased stiffness, as determined by Young's modulus, without sacrificing impact strength when the content of nucleating assembly was increased from 0 to 2 wt %. Transcrystallization of polypropylene onto BA/TP nanostructures was imaged by means of crossed-polarized light microscopy.

Die Kupfer-Methode ist also entsprechend empfindlicher.Um die Brauchbarkeit der Methode zu erproben, wurde der C h l o r o p h y l l -G e h a l t d e r B l a t t e r v o n w a c h s e n d e n Weizen -P f l a n z e n iiber einen Zeitraum von 60 Tagen sowohl nach Wills t a t t e r als auch nach der Kupfer-Methode rerfolgt. In Abbildung 2 sind die Estinktionskoeffizienten der nach beiden Methoden gewonnenen, in bezug auf Chlorophyll aquivalenten Losungen in 1' 'orm von Kurven wiedergegeben. Es zeigt sich, daU die Werte der Kupfer-Losungen ausnahmslos hoher liegen, daU aber kein konstantes Verhaltnis zwischen den zusamrnengehorigen Werten aualitativen Versuche auch 111 20 30 40 50 Tape 60 Abbild. 2 . besteht. Ein solches war aber auf Grund der gar nicht zu erwarten. denn diese zeigten, daB iffensichtlich nicht nur das chlorophyll, sondern auch noch Abbauprodukte, die aber als solche nicht mehr griin gefarbt s h d , die Kupfer-Reaktion geben. Auf die eigenartigen Spriinge der Chlorophyll-Gehalte sol1 hier nicht eingegangen werden. Durch besondere Versuche wurde festgestellt, daU bei Anwendung verschiedener Mengen des gleichen Materials die Extinktionskoeffizienten proportional den angewandten Mengen sind. Da von solchen mit einem Molekulargewicht von iiber loo nur wenige bekannt waren (Nr. 17, 22, 23, 24, 26 in Tabelle I), deren Reindarstellung iiberdies recht umstandlich und kostspielig ist, so wurde die S y n t h e s e h o c h m o l e k u l a r e r I s o -p a r a f f i n e auf eineni anderen Wege versucht. Einerseits wurde versucht, aus dem von -4. Griin, E. U l b r i c h und F. K r c z i l l ) beschriebenen P a l m i t o l , dem 16-Osy-hentriakontan, durch cberfiihrung in das J o d i d und Umsetzung descelben nach W u r t z zum symm.
