Show more

“…The crux of the problem is that the activation of inert a-RP is comparatively harder than its white allotrope, since breaking chemical bonds of a polymer-like a-RP precursor consisting of molecular rings and chains is energetically more unfavorable than those of small molecule P 4 . 28 Thus, in order to accomplish a facile solvothermal reaction towards crystalline red phosphorus and to better understand the phase transition pathway, the selection of a mild nucleophilic solvent and appropriate reaction conditions to activate a-RP is of great significance. [29][30][31][32] Herein, we developed a solution-phase solvothermal pathway to prepare Form II red phosphorus by employing 1,2diaminopropane as a nucleophilic agent and systematically characterized the crystalline products.…”

“…In the first phases of the transformation a considerably disordered skeleton of phosphorus atoms is formed, in which abnormal bond lenghts and valency angles exist. The valencies of some atoms are stericaly not completely saturated [14][15][16] . This condition can explain the retransformation of 32 P atoms into the white modification during heating of irradiated phosphorus.…”
