1,4-Dihydroisoquidinw and lH-Benzo[delisoqoinoliges from 2-Azaallenium Salts%a-Dimethylbenzyl-substituted 2-azaallenium salts 1 easily cyclize upon heating to form the hitherto unknown 4p-dimethylsubstituted 1,4-dihydroisoquinolinium salts 2 in good yields. Deprotonation of 2 by weak bases provides the corresponding 1,4-dihydroisoquinolines 3. An X-ray analysis of 3c indicates a pronounced boat-shape conformation of the 1,4-dihydropyridke subu i t . 1-Naphthyl-substituted 2-azaallenium salts 1 are not isolable under experimental conditions but cyclize spontaneously to form the novel 1H-benzo[de]isoquinolinium salts 8. Deprotonation to lH-benzo[de]isoquinolines 9 is successful only in the absence of oxygen; in the presence of air, a mixture of benzoisoquinolinones 10-13 is formed.nierten Derivates 3c gezeigt werden, daD es sich hier um die ersten Beispiele von 1,4-Dihydroisochinolinen 3 und deren Salze 2 handelt.
