Abstract:17 varieties of ornamental poppycultivated in West Germany (cultivar. of Papaver orientale L., P. pseudo-orientale (Fedde) Medw. and P. bracteatum (Lindl.) were examined for their alkaloid composition and for their content in the ripe capsules.
