UAV and the comparison of image processing software

Abstract: Purpose The purpose of this paper is to discuss unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) and the comparison of image processing software. Design/methodology/approach Images from a drone are used and processed with new digital image processing software, Imagine UAV® of Erdas imagine 2015®. The products (Digital Surface Model and ortho images) are validated with check points (CPs) measured in the field with Global Positioning System. Moreover, similar products are produced by Agisoft PhotoScan® software and are compared … Show more

“…Its horizontal accuracy is approximately ±2 m, its vertical accuracy reaches ±0.5 m, and the angle measurement accuracy in the three axes ranges from approximately 1 • to 2 • (according to the specifications of the autopilot). The lifting capacity of the drone is 2.5 kg, and the flight time ranges between 10 and 15 min [32,33].…”

“…The flight height was set to 85 m above the terrain surface (the highest point of the study area), allowing the acquisition of high-spatial-resolution images with a Ground Sampling Distance (GSD) varying from 2 to 3 cm [32,37]. The flight plan was realized by four flight strips with a forward overlap of 80% and a side overlap of 40% (Figure 5).…”

“…Thus, apart from accuracy, which is a mandatory requirement, the use of some or other software in geodesy depends on the technical assignment, the level of competence of specialists and the timing of the planned tasks. In general, the above-mentioned software is only a tool in the hands of an experienced specialist, where the main factor remains only the speed and accuracy of achieving results [9]. Consequently, a judiciously chosen combination of tools involves achieving them quickly than the established traditional methods [7][8][9][10].…”

The only traditional method of counting is known, but for each geometric figure, i.e., constructive, it is different.…”
