Type D (distressed) personality and its assessment with the DS14 in Lithuanian patients with coronary artery disease

Abstract: We examined Type D personality (combination of negative affectivity with social inhibition) and its assessment with the DS14 in 543 Lithuanian coronary patients. Psychometric analyses confirmed the two-factor structure, internal consistency (α = 0.84/α = 0.75), and test-retest reliability (r = 0.69/0.81) of the DS14 negative affectivity and inhibition components. Negative affectivity correlated (r = -0.58) with emotional stability and social inhibition (r = -0.46) with extraversion; correlations with other Big… Show more

“…The stability over time of an individual's characteristic behavior, cognitive style, and motivational and affective tendencies is a crucial assumption in trait psychology (Eysenck, ). Earlier studies have shown that the Type D scale, DS14, has adequate psychometric qualities, is stable over time, has good internal consistency, and is independent of mood and health status (Bergvik, Sorlie, Wynn & Sexton, ; Bunevicius et al ., ; Denollet, ; Martens, Kupper, Pedersen, Aquarius & Denollet, ; Nefs, Pouwer, Pop & Denollet, ; Spindler, Kruse, Zwisler & Pedersen, ; Svansdottir et al ., ; Yu, Thompson, Yu, Pedersen & Denollet, ). The DS14 has previously demonstrated good validity in Swedish settings (Kupper, Pedersen, Hofer, Saner, Oldridge & Denollet, ).…”

“…Asmuo laikomas D tipo asmenybe, jei surenka 10 ir daugiau balų tiek iš NE, tiek iš SU poskalių. Šio lietuviško klausimyno autoriai yra Lietuvos mokslininkai, validavę jį 2013 m. ir pritaikę kardiologijoje tiriant pacientų psichologinius simptomus, jų ryšį su D tipo asmenybiniais bruožais [12]. Klausimyno vidinis patikimumas pagal Cronbacho alfa -0,849.…”

“…D tipo asmenybės bruožai lemia stresogeninių situacijų įveikimo vengimo strategiją. Tokio tipo pacientai nelinkę laiku spręsti sveikatos problemų, nesikreipia į gydytoją, kol liga neįsisenėja ir būtina gydomoji intervencija (pavyzdžiui, EKS implantavimas) [11,12].…”
