Two-pronged events inHe4-pcollisions at 8.56 GeV/cet al.

Abstract: We have studied He-p collisions at a He incident momentum of 8.56 GeV/c using the 1 m Dubna bubble chamber. The p -'He elastic scattering, the coherent p + 'He~X + 'He + m production and the breakup reaction p + He -+p+'He+ n have beeninvestigated. Cross sections and production features are presented. From the breakup reaction, subsamples of events in which a He or a n appear as spectators were selected.

“…2b). Separately these mechanisms have been considered in papers [5,6] as applied to the p+4He--*SHe+n+p re- (4) where Q is the 3He momentum, E the 3He kinetic energy and M 3 the 3He mass. All quantities are considered in the lab.…”

“…* Calcu-* In [5] there was measured the momentum spectrum of 3He in the reaction a +p ~ 3He +p +n. In Born approximation (spectator model) this spectrum is the same as the momentum distribution of nucleons inside of a-particle (in its c.m.s) The histogram represents the calculated results, the points are the experimental ones from [5] lated this way the momentum distribution of e-particle nucleons is shown in Fig.…”
