Two-phase flows in pipes and capillary channels

Abstract: This review is devoted to analysis of two-phase flow patterns in capillary channels. Studies are considered in which flow pattern maps are obtained of two-phase flow in channels of different cross sections with the transverse dimension ranging from 20 μm to 255 mm. Data on flow patterns are systematized and given in tables. The impact made by capillary effects is analyzed compared to the influence of other factors under conditions of two-phase flow in channels. The classification of channels based on the degre… Show more

“…The review articles on two-phase flow in channels of different configurations can be found in [2][3][4]. Analysis of the researches shows that the structure of two-phase flow is generally influenced by the following parameters: channel geometry and dimensions, structure of the inlet section, fluid properties such as viscosity and surface tension.…”

“…An overview of publications on the two-phase flow in the channels of various configurations can be found in [2][3][4]. The analysis of the works shows that the structure of the two-phase flow is mainly influenced by the following parameters: geometry and dimensions of the channel [5,6], parameters of the input area [7] and fluid properties, such as viscosity and surface tension [8,9].…”
