Two new species of Diarthrodes (Copepoda: Harpacticoida: Dactylopusiidae) from the Caribbean coast of Colombia

Abstract: Biological samples obtained from a coastal system of northern Colombia yielded the first record of the harpacticoid copepod genus Diarthrodes Thomson, 1883 for Colombia by the presence of 2 new species. We describe the new species based on male and female specimens. Diarthrodes bodini sp. nov., a member of group I (sensu Gómez et al., 2008), appears to be most closely related to D. latisetosus Chislenko, 1978 but differs in the ornamentation of the urosomites, the length/width ratio of the P1 ENP, the relative… Show more

“…Debido a que el orden Poecilostomatoida es considerado ahora como parte de Cyclopoida (Khodami et al, 2017), este último incluye ahora ocho familias adicionales en el Caribe colombiano: Clausiidae, Corycaeidae, Cyclopoidae, Kelleridae, Lubbockidae, Oithonidae, Oncaeidae y Sapphirinidae, con 17 géneros y 38 especies (Tablas 2 y 3). En relación con el inventario de 2010, nueve especies pueden 11 new species or new records were found at Gaira Bay (Fuentes-Reinés and Suárez-Morales, 2017a, 2017cFuentes-Reinés et al, 2017;Gómez andFuentes-Reinés, 2017a, 2017b;Suárez-Morales and Fuentes-Reinés, 2018). The cyclopoid Oncaea scottodicarloi was reported in both studies, one near Coveñas (Morrosquillo ecoregion, Ahrens et al, 2012) and Gaira (Tayrona ecoregion, Fuentes-Reinés and Suárez-Morales, 2017b).…”

“…La lista incluye el registro del primer copépodo del orden Mostrilloida encontrado en Colombia (Dorado-Roncancio y Dorado-Roncancio, 2018), el cual fué Taking into account that over the last decade the copepod fauna of benthic environments has started to be surveyed, we also include in the updated checklist benthic copepods (Fuentes-Reinés and Suárez- Morales, 2017cMorales, , 2018Fuentes-Reinés et al, 2017;Gómez andFuentes-Reinés, 2017a, 2017b), collected in phytal habitats of coastal waters of Gaira Bay. Two of those publications also reported planktonic cyclopoids (Fuentes-Reinés and Suárez-Morales, 2017a, 2017b) for the same study area.…”
