“…To account for all these better possibilities, and to navigate the design principle above, three porous coordination polymers, namely, {[Cd(1,4-(2-Me)-bix)(glu)]·5(H 2 O)} n ( 1 ), {[Cd 2 (1,4-(2-Me)-bix)(msuc)]·(H 2 O)} n ( 3 ), and {[Zn(1,4-(2-Me)-bix)(msuc)]·(solvent) x } n ( 4 ) have been synthesized using an aromatic N-donor linker 1,4-bis[(2-methyl-1-imidazolyl)-methyl]benzene {1,4-(2-Me)-bix} along with two electron-rich metals, Zn(II) and Cd(II), and two dicarboxylates, disodium glutarate and disodium methyl succinate. To draw an understanding over the structure and property relationship, properties of a previously reported complex {[Zn(1,4-(2-Me)-bix)(glu)]·4(H 2 O)} n ( 2 ) has also been discussed here . Complex 2 has been synthesized here following a different synthetic technique but have the same structure which has been confirmed by all physicochemical studies .…”
