Two New Cadmium(II) Compounds based on Distinct Second Building Subunits: Solvothermal Syntheses, Crystal Structures, and Luminescent Properties

Abstract: Two cadmium(II) coordination polymers, namely [Cd3(bpt)2(DMA)2]n (1) and [Cd2(bpt)(btz)(DMF)]n (2) (H3bpt = biphenyl‐3,4′,5‐tricarboxylic acid, Hbtz = 1H‐benzotriazole, DMA = N,N‐dimethylacetamide; DMF = N,N‐dimethylformamide), were solvothermally synthesized and structurally characterized by single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction. Compound 1 displays a 3D framework based on trinuclear {Cd3(COO)4} subunits and can be simplified into a (4,8)‐connected topological network by viewing bpt3– ligands and trinuclear {Cd3(C… Show more

“…According to the literature, although there many lanthanide coordination polymers has been constructed based on the H 3 L ligand, most of them show cluster‐based or single‐metal secondary building unit and demonstrate less porosity (less than 50 % solvent‐accessible void). Complex 1 represents the first lanthanide coordination polymer that built from rod‐like lanthanide SBUs based on the H 3 L ligand …”

“…Organic polycarboxylate ligands not only have high bonding ability to central metal ions but also can exhibit various coordination modes in the self‐assemble process, leading to robust framework that can survive in water . Biphenyl‐3,4′,5‐tricarboxylic acid (H 3 L) has three carboxylate groups and has widely been used as a cross‐linker to construct functional MOFs . In viewing of its excellent coordination ability, in this work, we describe the synthesis of a 3D metal‐organic framework composed of lanthanide metal ions and biphenyl‐3,4′,5‐tricarboxylic acid [Dy 2 (L) 2 (H 2 O) 2 ] n ( 1 ), and evaluated its drug load and release capacity using an anticancer drug, 5‐fluorouracil (5‐Fu).…”
