Two‐layer model of equipment fault propagation in manufacturing system

Abstract: Equipment fault is a major factor that affects the reliability of manufacturing systems. Fault source identification and propagation path search are primary means to reduce and eliminate equipment faults. To this end, this paper proposed a two‐layer model of equipment fault propagation in a manufacturing system. One layer, modeled by a small‐world network, is a network of parts for a single equipment device. The other, represented by the production relationships of the manufacturing process, is a network of eq… Show more

“…It describes the equipment attributes and interactive information, processes data, and resolves the analysis of massive heterogeneous data in a configurable form. The block construction equipment data is abstracted into a standard data structure, that is, the equipment data model (Eq-DataModel) [20]. The Eq-DataModel consists of multiple equipment object data models (Ob-DataModel), which can be described as Eq-DataModel = {Ob-DataModel1, Ob-DataModel2, …}.…”

“…6,7 In addition to extensive research in communication and control systems, 8,9 fault propagation theory is also gradually developing in mechanical systems. Yin et al 10 and Hou et al 11 innovated fault propagation models to address the issues of fault tracing and causal relationships. They both studied key systems and obtained more accurate results.…”

“…Bayesian networks [8], and graph theory [9,10] and so on. Wu et al studied the importance of fault and fault propagation mechanism by high-level Petri net [4], although the Petri net model has strong simulation capabilities, it is difficult to analyze the model for systems with too many nodes and high complexity.…”

“…Graph theory can be summarized into two types: tree and graph. Much of the data used in fault tree (FT) study are uncertain, Raymond proposed a methodology to determine the impact of uncertainty on FT study results [9]. Other graph theory methods include bond graph [10], directed graph [11] and so on.…”
