Two-Dimensional Titanium Carbide/RGO Composite for High-Performance Supercapacitors

Abstract: Ti3C2Tx, a 2D titanium carbide in the MXenes family, is obtained from Ti3AlC2 through selective etching of the Al layer. Due to its good conductivity and high volumetric capacitance, Ti3C2Tx is regarded as a promising candidate for supercapacitors. In this paper, the fabrication of Ti3C2Tx/RGO composites with different proportions of Ti3C2Tx and RGO is reported, in which RGO acts as a conductive "bridge" to connect different Ti3C2Tx blocks and a matrix to alleviate the volume change during charge/discharge pro… Show more

“…Most as‐synthesized Ti 3 C 2 T x products are in a block state with weak/loose contact, hindering their practical application . To address this challenge, with rGO as an additive, a Ti 3 C 2 T x /rGO composite was proposed as a high‐performance SC electrode . The soft and flexible rGO nanosheets can act as conductive “bridges” to connect different Ti 3 C 2 T x blocks, significantly improving the SC performance of the composite electrodes.…”

“…[69] Besides, Fan et al also reported a method of growing 2D layer Mo 2 C on vertically distributed graphene, which was obtained from vertically distributed CNTs. [131,[140][141][142] Our group directly synthesizes TI 3 C 2 T x / rGO composite by solution mixing and has successfully infiltrated sulfur into the resulting composite. In order to deposit MoC 2 on the surface of graphene uniformly, molybdenum metal must be first sprayed on the surface of graphene, and then the Mo-based precursor is carbonized with a gaseous carbon source to form 2D layer Mo 2 C. [130] Figure 3b shows the schematic preparation process of the Mo 2 C/N-doped graphene (N-G) composite.…”

“…MXenes can be composited with many materials that do not provide pseudocapacitance, such as EG, [136] rGO, [140] CNTs [152] and so on. In MXenes/rGO composites, rGO film can go into the interlamination of MXene layers, which causes the restacking of the MXene layers to be suppressed.…”
