Two dimensional position detection method using bi-directional leaky coaxial cable based on TDOA

Abstract: Position detection of wireless terminal tends to be important technology in wireless communication system. Demand for position detection is increasing. This paper proposes position detection method using bi-directional LCX (Leaky CoaXial cable). Due to bi-directional and the reflection at end of LCX on purpose, proposed method makes four propagation pathes. Proposed system can detect two dimensional position using the differences of four propagation times. This paper describes the equations for position detect… Show more

“…But it is under the assumption of perfect time synchronization between Base Station (BS) and receiver, which is hardly implemented in practical uses. An additional BS is placed at the end of LCX to avoid the impact of imperfect time synchronization and high propagation loss of the reflected signal in [18]. The MUltiple-SIgnal-Classification (MUSIC)-based LCX positioning methods treat the frequency samples as the antenna array elements in conventional MUSIC.…”

“…Reference [18] proposed a method for 1-D position detection with the TOA of the direct wave and the reflected wave from the end of LCX. Compared with 1-D location detection which only estimates the location information along the LCX, one improved method for 2-D localization method using TOA method from multiple LCXs has been researched in [19]. In addition to the TOA method, researches in [20] and [21] also developed a method using the time difference of arrival (TDOA) between the signal arrival at two ends of LCX to detect the location of the user.…”

“…In fact, most research is using IQ-demodulated method for obtaining the phase information of the echo signal. [10][11][12] However, instead of the phase, more attention is paid to the amplitude of the synchronous subtraction for locating the intruder in this article. On the basis of the amplitude stability of the V IQ , the effects of the intruder positioning are evaluated at 40, 100, and 200 MHz separately according to the time delay, and the method of improving the positioning error is further studied.…”
