Two-component end mills with multilayer composite nano-structured coatings as a viable alternative to monolithic carbide end mills

Abstract: The paper deals with the challenges of the application of two-component end mills, which represent a combination of a carbide cutting part and a shank made of cheaper structural material. The calculations of strains and deformations of composite mills were carried out in comparison with solid carbide mills, with the use of the finite element method.
