Two 3D supramolecules with helices constructed by hydrogen bonds based on p-thioacetatebenzoic acid ligand

Abstract: p-Thioacetatebenzoic acid (H 2 L) and a combination of N-donor ligands such as 4,4 0 -bipyridine (4,4 0 -bipy) and 1,3-bi(4-pyridyl)propane (bpp) with metal ions Mn(II) and Ni(II) give rise to two coordination polymers, namely, [Mn(HL) 2 (bpp) 2 (H 2 O) 2 ] n (1), [NiL (4,4 0 -bipy) (H 2 O) 3 ] n ÁnH 2 O (2). 1 features an unusual ''8'' shaped double layer by hydrogen bonds and two different types of helical chains are arrayed alternatively in the 2D double layer framework, which further extends into a 3D supr… Show more

“…In the last paper in this issue Zhan and Feng [222] report on synthesis of two 3D supramolecular complexes constructed from p-thioacetatebenzoic acid (H 2 L), [Mn(HL) 2 (bpp) 2 (H 2 O) 2 ] n and [NiL(4,4 0 bipy)(H 2 O) 3 ] n ÁnH 2 O (bpp = 1,3-bi(4-pyridyl)propane, 4,4 0 -bipy = 4,4 0 -bipyridine). The former compound exhibits intense structure-related fluorescent emission bands.…”

“…The research of compounds containing these cations, their ionic antagonists (like other alkaline metals) with anions existing in body fluids is thus of great importance, as they affect the sodium-potassium pump. In addition, recently, an increasing interest is put on construction of dinuclear, multinuclear and polymeric coordination compounds [24][25][26][27] created by self-assembly [28] of the components [29][30][31][32].…”
