The Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) model is an evaluative tool for academic performance in teaching and learning (T&L), emphasizing student enablement and continuity. Recognizing the inherent subjectivity in T&L performance assessment, the evaluation process is complex and intricate. In pursuit of an enhanced T&L experience, a novel model was introduced and rigorously tested across four consecutive semesters within the Electrical Engineering Programme at a University. The study encompassed 90 courses spanning from year 1 to year 4, involving 1062 students. Qualitative and quantitative parameters were considered, including student failure rates and strategic plans. The results demonstrated a significant and consistent reduction in the failure rate each semester. This comprehensive model not only contributes to professional development within the T&L Malaysian Qualifications Framework (MQF) Level 6 sector but also exhibits potential applicability in diverse performance evaluation contexts.

Analysis on Course Scores of Learners of Online Teaching Platforms Based on Data Mining

After years of development, online teaching platforms (OLPs) have accumulated a huge amount of data on student scores. To effectively mine out the useful knowledge and information behind the massive data, this paper puts forward a course score analysis model for OLP learners based on data mining. Firstly, the score features of OLP learners were classified, and the calculation method of computational features was presented. Then, the score features were clustered through expectation maximization (EM) clustering, which has the advantage of unsupervised learning. Moreover, the salient features were obtained through principal component analysis (PCA). Finally, the support vector machine (SVM) prediction algorithm, a supervised learning method, was constructed, and merged with the clustering algorithm to realize accurate classification of the course scores of OLP learners. The effectiveness of the proposed method was proved through experiments. Based on the correlation between learner scores and courses, this research enables teachers to improve current teaching models and methods.

This study investigated the professional occupational competences of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) lecturers in Gauteng Province, South Africa. Specifically, the study examined the management and support intervention systems for lecturer development in five colleges. A multi-case study design was adopted for this qualitative research study. Purposive sampling technique was used to select fifteen participants. Semi-structured interviews were utilized to gather data, whilst thematic analysis was applied for data analysis. The findings reveal that colleges have inadequate professional occupational competence interventions in place, and that they lack the necessary management and administrative skills to facilitate effective professional occupational competence development for their lecturers. The study recommends that TVET college managers be trained appropriately to champion and model organizational learning in their institutions.
