The aim of our study was to reveal the fungal degradation in the historical monuments in the ancient city of Teos. In the antique city of Teos, which is estimated to exist since the protogeometric period, field studies have been carried out on monuments exposed to fungal deterioration. As a result of the field studies carried out in Teos, it was observed that especially cauliflower-like black microcolonial fungi, caused alteration in historical artifacts. These fungi have been found to cause brown to black coloration, crater-shaped pits, blistering and fracture, and belong to the genera Capnobotryella, Cladosporium, Coniosporium, Lophiostoma, Massarina, Monodyctis, Mycocalicium, Phoma, Phaeococcomyces, Rhinocladiella and Sarcinomyces. The deterioration of historical artifacts is a threat in the ancient city of Teos, as in the whole world. It is necessary to increase both biological diversity and biological control studies in this field.

Exophiala dermatitidis ve Exophiala phaeomuriformis Kökenlerinin Malaşit Yeşilini Renksizleştirme Aktivitelerinin Değerlendirilmesi § ÖZ Amaç: Malaşit yeşili (MY) tekstil endüstrisi ve kültür balıkçılığında yaygın olarak kullanılan, N-metillenmiş diaminotrifenilmetan bir boyadır. Mikobakteri izolasyonu, spor boyama ve fotodinamik tedavi amaçlı olarak tıbbi mikrobiyolojide de kullanılır. Çevresel tehlikeli kirliliğe neden olan boyaların ortamdan temizlenmesinde mikroorganizmaların kullanımı, günümüzde uygulanan yöntemlere önemli bir alternatiftir. Sunulan araştırmada, insanlar tarafından hidrokarbon atıklar ile kirletilmiş çevrede sıklıkla karşılaşılan Exophiala türlerinin malaşit yeşilini renksizleştirme aktiviteleri araştırılmıştır. Gereç ve Yöntem: MY renksizleştirme aktivitesini incelemek üzere çalışmaya, 109'u Exophiala dermatitidis (69 bulaşık makinası, 33 demiryolu traversi ve 7 klinik kökeni) ve 82'si de Exophiala phaeomuriformis (32 bulaşık makinesi ve 50 demiryolu travers kökeni) olmak üzere toplam 191 köken dâhil edildi. Kökenlerin agar dilüsyon yöntemi ile MY duyarlılıkları ve renksizleştirme aktiviteleri incelendi. Tüm Exophiala kökenlerinin renksizleştirme aktiviteleri 32 μg/mL MY içeren buyyon besiyerinde spektrofotometrik olarak araştırıldı. Bulgular: Agar dilüsyon yöntemi ile her iki tür Exophiala kökeninde, MY MIK 90 değeri 128 µg/mL olarak bulundu. Göz ile incelemede, en iyi renksizleştime aktivitesi ≥32 μg/mL MY konsatrasyonunda görüldü. Katı besiyerinde yapılan testlerde Exophiala türleri arasında MY renksizleştirme oranları yönünden farklılık saptanmadı (p>0.05). Spektrofotometrik olarak yapılan renksizleştirme aktivitesi karşılaştırmalarında da, Exophiala türleri ve izolasyon bölgeleri arasında fark saptanmadı (p>0.05). Tüm kökenler arasında, bulaşık makinesinden izole edilen bir E. dermatitidis kökeni %62.6 ile en yüksek renksizleştirme oranını gösterdi. Sonuç: Exophiala cinsi gibi esmer mantarlarda görülen renksizleştirme potansiyeli ve çevresel ortamlardaki toksik boyaların biyolojik yıkımlarında uygulanabilirliği daha ileri araştırmalar ile değerlendirilmelidir.
