Abstract:In the Wendelstein 7-X (W7-X) stellarator, turbulence is the dominant transport mechanism in most discharges. This leads to a 'clamping' of ion temperature over a wide range of heating power, predominantly flat density profiles where hollow profiles driven by neoclassical thermo-diffusion would be expected and by rapid impurity transport in injection experiments. Significantly reduced turbulent transport is observed in the presence of strong core density gradients found transiently after core pellet injection … Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
