“…Applications of gravitational search algorithms [4], simulated annealing [5] and central force metaheuristic optimization [6] as nature-inspired conceptual frameworks in engineering are presented. Much attention is being paid to vibration control and the health monitoring of buildings and engineering structures [7][8][9][10][11], including bridges [12,13] and high-rise buildings [14][15][16]. A comprehensive review of tuned mass dampers for the vibration control of structures was provided [17].…”

“…Not only the use of TMDs has proved to be successful in high‐rise buildings, other examples of the use of TMDs and multiple tuned mass damper (MTMD) include the study of monopile offshore wind turbine tower under wind‐wave excitations and seismic excitations and lightly damped pedestrian bridges . Although extensive literature is available regarding the use of TMDs to reduce the response of different types of structures, the report of the use of TMDs to mitigate the response of monuments under wind and seismic loading is scarce . In Howell et al, information about the structural design of the tallest slender monument (statue) in the world is reported and details about the treatment of gravity and wind and seismic loads are discussed.…”

“…Widespread applications of tuned mass damper (TMD) could be found in the fields of mechanical and civil engineering, which protects structures against detrimental vibration induced by mechanical sources or natural hazards. Nonexhaustive literature reviews on this subject are available in the previous studies . A classic TMD is of single degree of freedom (SDOF) and is essentially a mass implemented on the primary system via a spring and a viscous damper in parallel connection, which can effectively reduce the vibration of host structure around the target mode.…”
