Tunable terahertz-wave generation in DAST crystal with dual-wavelength KTP optical parametric oscillator

Abstract: formance relative to the zero-DC grating case. Also, as predicted qualitatively above, there is an optimum value for the offset (nt,z =-0.6 for the studied system), resulting from the balance between the effects of the sidelobe suppression, delay slope impact on the GVD and filter bandwidth. Conclusions: We have studied the amplitude and phase responses of apodised gratings, considering several mean values of the refractive index change. We have demonstrated that apodised FBGs with negative index change mean v… Show more

“…These organic crystals are ideal for ultrawide band operation, and include 4-dimethylamino-N-methyl-4-stilbavolium tosylate (DAST) [88][89][90][91][92] or N-benzyl-2-methyl-4-nitroaniline (BNA) [93,94].…”

“…Frequency conversion in a nonlinear optical material is an effective method of achieving coherent THz-wave radiation due to its wide tunability and room-temperature operation [1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8] . We have focused on the development of THz-wave parametric oscillator (TPO) [9][10][11][12][13] and THz-wave parametric generator [14][15][16][17][18][19] (TPG) based on the laser light scattering from the A 1 -symmetry polariton mode of MgO:LiNbO 3 nonlinear crystal, which generated widely tunable, coherent THz-wave radiations with compact and room-temperature operation.…”

“…To satisfy such requirements, various methods have been exploited based on difference frequency generation (DFG) using nonlinear crystals such as LiNbO 3 [1], PPLN [2], GaP [3], GaSe [4], ZnGeP 2 [5], GaAs [6], DAST [7], and so on. The generated peak powers for nanosecond THz pulses have exceeded 2 kW [6], and even reached the order of MW for picosecond short pulses [8].…”
