Tunable dual‐mode dual‐band filter with constant bandwidth and high selectivity

Abstract: A tunable dual‐mode dual‐band filter composed of varactor‐loaded folded square loop resonator is presented. A pair of the resonators is mirror coupled to form the higher band, while two varactors with the same bias are symmetrically loaded at the corner of each loop, splitting dual modes and form the tunable lower band. As the bias voltage increases, the lower band frequency increases from 1.1 GHz to 1.5 GHz with a constant bandwidth, while the higher band one remains at 2.1 GHz. The dual‐mode effect and sourc… Show more

“…Both source-load coupling and dual-mode structures are utilized to introduce multiple transmission zeros and improve the filter selectivity. 10 Two SMV1236 varactor diodes are symmetrically loaded at the loop corner with a common bias voltage. To reduce the coupling between the parallel branches of the power divider, the transmission lines close to the isolated resistors are bent to V-shape structure.…”

“…[1][2][3] Furthermore, with the development of wireless communication systems, the tunable filters with constant bandwidth are more attractive. [4][5][6][7][8][9][10][11] Generating multiple transmission zeros (TZs) is a good solution to sharpen the skirt and enhance the out of band rejection, which can improve the isolation between two tunable channels. The traditional methods of generating TZs are cross-coupling and source-load (S-L) coupling.…”

“…A tunable single‐band and dual‐band microstrip filter using varactors can realize continuously tuning center frequency via bias voltage . Although the plane structure is easy to integrate with lumped elements, it suffers from low quality factor and small power handing.…”
