“…In present study similar to recent reports, we could not found correlation between maternal resistin and insulin resistance (Megia et al, 2008;Kulik-Rechberger and Mora-Janiszewska, 2009;Kuzmicki et al, 2009). Our results are in agreement with several previous observations that found an increase in TNF-α level in pregnant as compared non pregnant subjects (Melczer, 2002;Xue-Lian et al, 2008;Daher et al, 1999) but in contradiction with these studies, we found negative correlation between gestational age and TNF-α level. Explanation account for this finding may be related to lifestyle of our subjects.…”

“…72 In normal pregnancy, TNF-␣ is low in the first trimester and subsequently increases with advancing gestational age. 73 Some 74,75 but not all 76 studies report higher plasma TNF-␣ levels in women with established preeclampsia. In addition, increased levels of TNF-␣ antigen and mRNA have been described in placental tissue from preeclamptic women.…”

“…Another important issue concerns the characterization of the immunological profile of the maternal-fetal relationship. Several studies showed that the pattern of cytokines is variable throughout pregnancy, and the observed effects depend on the concentration and the period (Daher et al 1999). In this paper a non-well-defined pattern of response between cytokine relationships of Th1 and Th2 profiles in bitches is noticeable.…”
