Advancements in wireless communication and integrated circuit technology has increased the importance of WBAN. WBAN,s provide real time health monitoring and health updates of the patient to the physician for a longer period of time. IMD"s are usually used to monitor and diagnose various medical conditions of the patient. Even though IMD"s are intelligent devices, in some cases they become more prone to attacks. Therefore a strong authentication mechanism has become mandatory for the IMD"s. Since IMD"s are extremely small in size and power constraints, the battery drains frequently. Recharging of these IMD"s implies surgeries or laparoscopy. This paper deals with the overcoming of the disadvantage of frequent surgeries. To preserve the IMD battery power the incoming signals are offloaded to an external device that can be recharged easily unlike the IMD. This will decrease the number of surgeries that are done to recharge it.

Recent changes in health care environment including aging population and prevalence of chronic disease encourage the adoption of new innovative technological solutions including wearable vital sensors, wireless networks, and smart phone. In this paper, we present an effective at-home lifestyle monitoring system that can be used for self-management and health intervention of patient himself in the Management-by-Exception perspectives. We implemented the filtering and queuing algorithms as a preprocessor of monitoring system to enhance efficiency of proposed system, and the effective UX design for self-management of patients themselves. The 94,467 actual clinic data was used to test the efficiency of the proposed system. As as a result, 64.8% of the incoming vital data was identified to be filtered out.

Implantable and wearable medical devices are used for monitoring, diagnosis, and treatment of an ever-increasing range of medical conditions, leading to an improved quality of life for patients. The addition of wireless connectivity to medical devices has enabled postdeployment tuning of therapy and access to device data virtually anytime and anywhere but, at the same time, has led to the emergence of security attacks as a critical concern. While cryptography and secure communication protocols may be used to address most known attacks, the lack of a viable secure connection establishment and key exchange mechanism is a fundamental challenge that needs to be addressed. We propose a vibration-based secure side channel between an external device (medical programmer or smartphone) and a medical device. Vibration is an intrinsically short-range, user-perceptible channel that is suitable for realizing physically secure communication at low energy and size/weight overheads. We identify and address key challenges associated with the vibration channel, and propose a vibration-based wakeup and key exchange scheme, named SecureVibe, that is resistant to battery drain attacks. We analyze the risk of acoustic eavesdropping attacks and propose an acoustic masking countermeasure. We demonstrate and evaluate vibration-based wakeup and key exchange between a smartphone and a prototype medical device in the context of a realistic human body model.
