“…Modal shift is the practice of transferring goods to more environmentally efficient transport modes (Eng-Larsson & Kohn, 2012) and to use what is typically referred to as alternative transport modes (Colicchia et al, 2013). Alternative in this context refers to alternative to road transports and can be, for instance, rail transports (Lammgård, 2012;Sallnäs et al, 2022) or water transports (Rogerson et al, 2020;Sallnäs et al, 2022). Modal shift can either be done for the whole transport link, or for sections of the transport link that have an intermodal solution (Bask & Rajahonka, 2017), where the loading unit remains unchanged.…”

“…Research with more holistic perspectives on green logistics are called upon (Touboulic & Walker, 2015a), and this thesis contributes to research by applying a holistic perspective that includes several actors within both the empirical scope and the unit of analysis. The predominant focus in the green logistics literature have been on shippers and LSPs (see e.g., Eng-Larsson & Kohn, 2012;Martinsen & Huge-Brodin, 2014;Bask & Rajahonka, 2017;Sallnäs et al, 2022), but this study contributes with addressing additional actor such as technology providers, governmental authorities, and customers within the same scope as shippers and LSPs. Thereby, this thesis contributes with a better understanding of the different actors involved in green logistics, in addition to describing the role of the actors.…”
