“…16 Therefore, it is useful to understand the synthetic recipes and the growth mechanism for the preparation of Cu 2 O nanocrystals with high-index facets. [56][57][58][59][60][61][62] Yang et al synthesised highly symmetric multi-facet polyhedral Cu 2 O microcrystals partially enclosed with high-index facets (i.e., including low-index {110}, {100}, {111} facets and high-index {544}, {522}, and {211} facets) in the system of Cu 2+ / NaOH/glucose or ascorbic acid solution at high temperature ( Fig. 9a1-c2).…”

“…Morphological control has also been achieved in the absence of capping agents; for example, temperature, [48,66,80] pH, [49,64,97] Cu(II) source, reductant, ions, and complexant concentrations have been used as variables to tune Cu 2 O habit [49,80,103] . Siegfried and Choi have studied the effect of inorganic ions on the electrodeposition of Cu 2 O on pre‐grown crystals [84] .…”

“…Changes in particle morphology were observed subsequent to some of these liquid phase reactions, suggesting possible leaching of particles, and preventing an understanding of coordination environment under reaction conditions [80,124] . Zeta potential measurements have commonly been used to rationalize trends in catalytic activity [46,125–127] . Rational design in such cases remains challenging due to the fact that the relationships of these experimental zeta potential measurements and surface structures have so far not been elucidated.…”
