TRPC6 Is Found in Distinct Compartments of the Human Kidney

Abstract: In the context of renal proteinuric diseases, TRPC6 has been shown to play an important role in ultrafiltration associated with the slit diaphragm through the control of the intracellular Ca2+ concentration in the podocytes of glomeruli. However, to date, the properties of TRPC6 have been studied mainly in cell lines or in animal models. Therefore, the aim of the study presented here was to investigate the presence and distribution of TRPC6 in human kidneys in order to possibly verify the applicability of the … Show more

“…The protein concentration in both solutions was identical (0.01 mg/mL). Kidney samples that are known to express TRPC6 served as positive control [41]. The murine anti-cytokeratin AE1/AE3 antibody (MAB3412, Merck, Darmstadt, Germany) was also employed for positive control.…”

“…The relationship between TRPC6 and glomerular permselectivity and its involvement in renal proteinuric disorders has been of special interest [35]. However, TRPC6 is not only found in the glomeruli, but also in the renal tubular system [36]. In the last few years, more and more studies have investigated TRPC channels-especially TRPC3 and TRPC6-in the renal tubules.…”
