Abstract:We investigate location problems where the optimal solution is found within the tropical convex hull of the given input points. Our initial focus is on geodesically star-convex sets, using the asymmetric tropical distance. We introduce the concept of tropically quasiconvex functions, which have sub-level sets with this shape, and are closely related to monotonic functions. Our findings demonstrate that location problems using tropically quasiconvex functions as distance measures will result in an optimal solut… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
