“…77 From leaves of C. betulaster Müell. Arg., a species from northeast Brazil, Barbosa et al 106 obtained the triterpenes lupenone, lupeol, 3-oxo-22-hydroxyhopane, 3-oxo-20-β-hydroxytaraxastane, 3-oxo-20-hydroxylupane, 3-oxo-olean-12-en-28-oic acid, 3-oxoolean-18-en-28-oic acid, and 3-oxo-cycloart-24E-en-26-oic acid. The triterpene acetyl aleuritolic acid (12) has been obtained from two Croton species native in Brazil, C. cajucara 49,50 and C. urucurana.…”

“…24 From leaves of C. betulaster Müll. Arg., Barbosa et al 106 obtained 5-hydroxy,7,4'-dimethoxyflavone, and from leaves of C. hovarum Leandri, Krebs and Ramiarantsoa 62 isolated the flavone C-glycoside vitexin (21). From leaves and stems of C. brasiliensis, Palmeira et al 59 isolated the 3- 128 Flavonoid data is still too scarce to establish a pattern for Croton.…”

“…Thus, accurately weighed 200 mg portions of each CE of 'aroeira', 'bardana', 'catuaba', 'chá-verde', 'marapuama', 'nó-de-cachorro', 'tansagem', 'marcela'; 100 mg CE of 'guaco', and 50 mg CE of 'uva-ursi' were dissolved in 500 μL water. All extracts were mixed in a tube shaker, and extracted with 500 μL of ethyl acetate (except for n-hexane in the case of 'marapuama'; Barbosa et al, 2003) in a microtiter shaker at 1400 rpm (IKA, MS1 Minishaker) for 5 min. Then, the tubes were placed in a refrigerated microcentrifuge (Eppendorf, Centrifuge 5415R), at 4000 x g for 4 min at 5 ºC, for the total separation of the phases.…”

“…4 They also produced triterpenes, 5 sesquiterpenes, monoterpenes, 6 flavonoids 7 and other metabolites. In a previous work we described the isolation of triterpenes from Croton betulaster 8 and flavonoids from both C. betulaster and C. luetzelburgii 9 but diterpenes and alkaloids were not found in these plants. Now, we describe three new benzoyl-methylpolyols isolated from Croton betulaster and C. luetzelburgii collected at Chapada Diamantina.…”
