Tristan research on neutron rich-nuclei: Magnetic moments and nuclear structure

Abstract: The TRISTAN research program is briefly outlined. The discussion then turns to the measurements of magnetic moments of excited states in neutron-rich fission product nuclei using the perturbed angular correlation method. The results for 2 + y states are analyzed in light of the systematics of magnetic moments in the A=70-200 region, and in relation to collective nuclear models.
