Triphenylamine‐Derived Solid‐State Emissive Carbon Dots for Multicolor High‐Efficiency Electroluminescent Light‐Emitting Diodes

Abstract: Two kinds of triphenylamine-derived solidstate emissive carbon dots (CDs) with orange and yellow color are facilely synthesized through solvothermal treatment, taking advantage of the nonplanar structure and good carrier mobility of triphenylamine unit. Theoretical calculations show that the triphenylamine structure could greatly inhibit the direct π-π stacking of aromatic skeletons and enhance the fluorescence properties of CDs in aggregation state. By adopting the CDs as single emissive layer, high-performan… Show more

“…In Raman spectra (Figure S3b), OR-CDs displayed a D band and G band centered at 1355 and 1575 cm –1 , attributed to the disordered graphite and sp 2 -hybridized carbon atoms. The value of I D / I G was about 0.80, implying that OR-CDs have a good degree of graphitization . Moreover, the ζ-potential of OR-CDs was about +1.89 mV (Figure S3c), indicating the preservation of abundant amino (−NH 2 ) groups on the surface of the OR-CDs.…”

“…The genmer program is a subprogram of Molclus, which is capable of performing molecular and conformational searches for clusters consisting of any element and number of atoms. Molclus has successfully searched for the initial structure of the triphenylamine unit and the organic structure of captured CO 2 . The initial structures are then optimized with Guassian 16 at the B3LYP/6-31G* level of theory. Finally, these optimized structures are clustered and sorted using the isostat component to obtain the structures with the lowest energy.…”

“…We here mainly focus on the bottom-up methods that are realized by the fusion of organic molecules under thermal 42 /solvothermal 11,43,44 conditions to synthesize SSCDs. The precursors chosen often determine the optical properties of the resulting CDs such as the PLQY, 45,46 solubility, 47 charge transport mobility, 48 structural characteristics 49 including size, shape, and crystallinity. This method offers relatively high yields and the convenience of introducing multiple heteroatom doping by readily inheriting from organic precursors during synthesis.…”

“…8(a)–(d)). 48 In order to utilize triplet states for breaking through the 5% EQE limitation of the traditional fluorescence device, the LEDs based on the red phosphorescent (625 nm) CDOFs exhibited a red emission with a maximum luminance of 1818 cd m −2 and an EQE of 5.6% (Fig. 8(e)–(j)).…”
