TRIM11, a direct target of miR-24-3p, promotes cell proliferation and inhibits apoptosis in colon cancer

Abstract: TRIM11 (tripartite motif-containing protein 11) is an E3 ubiquitin ligase recently identified as an oncogene in malignant glioma and lung cancer. In the present study, we report that expression of TRIM11 was increased in colon cancer (CC) tissue relative to paired normal tissues and that higher TRIM11 levels predicted poor overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS) in CC patients. Mechanistically, we showed that miR-24-3p downregulation contributes to TRIM11 upregulation in CC. We also demonstrated … Show more

“…Moreover, this research preliminary revealed LBPs pretreatment increased the miR-24 level, and the preventive effect of LBPs on PC-12 cell damage induced by OGD was reversed by knockdown of miR-24. Previous studies have suggested miR-24 can induce cell proliferation and inhibit cell apoptosis in cancers [27][28][29] as well as cardiomyocytes with ischemia/reperfusion injury [30]. Additionally, miR-24 is reported to participate in autophagy by regulating the expressions of LC3 and p62 in bladder cancer [31].…”

“…Studies have found that Trim11 promotes hepatoma cell proliferation, migration, and invasion and epithelial-tomesenchymal transition and tumor growth in vivo (42). Trim11 also promotes cell proliferation and inhibits cell apoptosis in colon cancer (43). Although there have been no reports on Trim11 and DN, one study reported that Trim11 can enhance cell proliferation by activating the Mek/Erk signaling pathway (23), which is an established pathway in DN (44,45).…”

“…The diagnostic and prognostic values of TRIM11 have been reported in gliomas (8), lung cancer (9) and colon cancer (10). Here, we reported that TRIM11 mRNA was efficient in ovarian cancer tissues (Fig.…”
