Triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells-2 (TREM-2) elicited by lung cancer cells to facilitate tumor immune evasion.

Abstract: e22054 Background: More recent evidences have argued that negative regulatory mechanism that serve to impede ongoing immune responses, which gain in interest as a complementary strategy for cancer therapy. Triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells-2 (TREM-2) restrains phagocytosis of both dendritic cells (DCs) and macrophages(MΦs), and reduces release of inflammatory cytokines through DAP12-mediated inhibitory signal, prompting us to investigate the role of TREM-2 involved in immune dysfunction among tum… Show more

“…Interestingly, TREM2 expression levels in LUSC and LUAD were lower than those in normal tissues. Although the expression level of TREM2 was generally low in the entire tumor tissue, Yao et al ( 26 ) reported that TREM2 expression was up-regulated on monocytes from patients with lung cancer compared with those from healthy individuals.…”

“…TREM-2 is also suggested to act as an oncogene in glioma (17). Moreover, TREM-2 is proven to promote tumor immune evasion in lung cancer cells (18). Inspired by the association between TREMs and human cancers, we sought to reveal the role of TREM-2 in RCC.…”
