Tricyclodecan-9-yl-Xanthogenate (D609): Mechanism of Action and Pharmacological Applications

Abstract: Tricyclodecan-9-yl xanthogenate (D609) is a synthetic tricyclic compound possessing a xanthate group. This xanthogenate compound is known for its diverse pharmacological properties. Over the last three decades, many studies have reported the biological activities of D609, including antioxidant, antiapoptotic, anticholinergic, anti-tumor, anti-inflammatory, anti-viral, anti-proliferative, and neuroprotective activities. Its mechanism of action is extensively attributed to its ability to cause the competitive in… Show more

“…Their general formula is: C S S H OR On the base of their chemical properties as metal complexing agents they are widely used in analytical chemistry for micro determination of some metals (Cu, Mo and Zn), industry (flotation of cooper, rubber and silk production) and agriculture (herbicides). The basis of their biological action is the inhibition of various enzyme systems and antioxidant effect, such as: antiviral activity (HIV, vaccinia, herpes, coxsackie; vesicular stomathitis, simian virus 40); antiangiogenetic action (metalloproteinases); CNS (inhibition of MAO and DBH); radioprotective action; antidotal effects (poisoning with mercury, cooper); antitumor action (NkB, TNF, sphingomyelin synthetase) (2,3).…”
