Tricolor Technique for Visualization of Spatial Variations of Polydisperse Dust in Gas-Dust Flows

Abstract: The aim of this work is to construct an algorithm for visualizing a polydisperse phase of solid particles (dust) in an inhomogeneous flow of a two-phase gas-dust mixture that would allow us to see, within one plot, the degree of polydispersity of the dust phase and the difference in the spatial distributions of individual fractions of dust particles in the computational domain. The developed technique allows us to reproduce concentrations from one to three fractions of dust particles in each cell in the comput… Show more

“…This is a first indication that Method II might be superior in this case, but it provides no quantitative measure. For this purpose, we made color movies of the region around the overlap region encoded in the RGB scheme, inspired by Korolev et al [39]. These movies show the images of Camera 1 in the red channel and the transformed images of Camera 2 in the blue channel (see Figure 8).…”

“…We developed visualization tools using the example of a two-dimensional dynamic model of a turbulent interstellar gas-dust matter passing through the spiral arm of a disk galaxy. Details of modeling, basic equations, and a justification of the applicability of certain approximations can be found in our work [ 22 ]. Unlike the model presented in [ 22 ], here, we are considering not a horizontal, but a vertical section of the spiral arm and its galactic surroundings.…”

Here, we will only briefly list the main features of the model.…”
