Trichofolliculoma

Abstract: SUMMARY Trichofolliculoma is a rare tumour occurring on the face. The characteristic “wool wisp” protruding from the tumour makes it clinically recognizable in most cases, and the typical histological picture confirms the diagnosis.

“…According to Kligman and Pinkus, 1 it shows intermediate differentiation between a hair follicle nevus, which is simple hyperplasia of the hair follicle, and a trichoepithelioma, which usually lacks a mature hair follicle. It presents in adults as a papule or nodule, mostly on the face but occasionally on the scalp or neck 2,3 . Rarely, the external auditory meatus, 4 intranasal area, 5 genital area, 6 lip, 7 and vulva 8 are affected.…”
