The complete and incomplete fusion cross sections for 7 Li+ 124 Sn reaction were measured using online and offline characteristic γ-ray detection techniques. The complete fusion (CF) cross sections at energies above the Coulomb barrier were found to be suppressed by ∼ 26 % compared to the coupled channel calculations. This suppression observed in complete fusion cross sections is found to be commensurate with the measured total incomplete fusion (ICF) cross sections. There is a distinct feature observed in the ICF cross sections, i.e., t-capture is found to be dominant than α-capture at all the measured energies. A simultaneous explanation of complete, incomplete and total fusion (TF) data was also obtained from the calculations based on Continuum Discretized Coupled Channel method with short range imaginary potentials. The cross section ratios of CF/TF and ICF/TF obtained from the data as well as the calculations showed the dominance of ICF at below barrier energies and CF at above barrier energies.

The 129 Xe nucleus has been investigated using the techniques of -ray spectroscopy. The heavy-ion fusion reaction 124 Sn( 11 B, p5n) 129 Xe was utilized at the beam energy of 70 MeV. Three new quasi-particle bands have been identified. From our polarization results, the yrast band was confirmed to have negative parity. However, the parity of the bandhead of an excited quasi-particle band was changed from negative to positive. In the yrast band, the backbending was found to be due to the alignment of neutrons.

Excited states of neutron rich Iodine isotopes 130−134 I above the high spin isomers have been identified using prompt-delayed γ-ray spectroscopy. The Iodine isotopes have been produced as fission fragments of fusion-fission and transfer induced fission of 9 Be(238 U, f) at a beam energy of 6.2 MeV/u. The complete (A, Z) identification was obtained using the large acceptance magnetic spectrometer VAMOS++. The AGATA γ-ray tracking array was used to detect the prompt γ rays while the delayed γ rays (in the time range of 100 ns to 200 µs) from the isomeric states were identified by the EXOGAM segmented Clover detectors, placed behind the focal plane of VAMOS++ spectrometer. The high spin states above the (8 −) isomers in 130,132 I have been populated for the first time and a new isomer in 132 I has been identified. New γ-ray transition has also been assigned to the level structure of 134 I. Prompt transitions above the 19/2 − isomer have been identified in 131,133 I, for the first time. The level structures are interpreted in terms of the systematics of odd-Z nuclei above Z = 50 shell closure and large scale shell model calculations.
