Aulotortus sinuosus has been regarded as one of the Carnian index fossils (Kobayashi et al, 2006); it has been documented from Ladinian rocks in South China (He and Yue, 1987); from Carnian rocks in Northern Thailand (Kobayashi et al, 2006) and Dinarides (Velić , 2007); from Ladinian-Carnian rocks in Peninsular Malaysia ; from Norian rocks in South China (He and Wang, 1990) and Hungary (Oraveczne-Scheffer, 1987); and from upper Carnian-Rhaetian rocks in Southwestern Cyprus . At Qingyan, it appears in the Yingshangpo Member (middle Anisian), suggesting that the first appearance datum (FAD) of A. sinuosus is much lower than previously reported.…”
