Any design works (except the art works) are designed for user(s). User's needs and abilities are the basic information to find the suitable solutions for the designers. Whether the product is an artwork or a design work, all of them have unique or well-known inspiration points. Finding an inspiration point, improving the idea, designing with the concept of the idea are processes that has been started to be taught to the designers in their first year Basic Design Classes at schools as the continuation of the principles and tools of design topics. With this study, the subject of Inspiration Point in Design implemented within the scope of the Basic Design I-studio course, taught to the first year students of the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design at Yasar University as a class assignment.

Mimarlık ve İç mimarlık eğitiminde konut tasarımının özel bir yeri vardır. Öğrenciler kendi gündelik yaşamları ile bütünleştirebildikleri konularda çalışmayı severler ve iki disiplin de doğaları gereği konut mekanına farklı perspektiflerden yaklaşır. 2020 yılında pandemi dolayısı ile evin önemi artmış; geleceğe dönük konutun tasarlanması konusunda da çeşitli çalışmalar yapılmaya başlanmıştır. Pandemi dönemine girmeden kısa bir süre önce 2019-2020 bahar döneminde mimarlık ve iç mimarlık öğrencileri ile atölye ortamında ortaklaşa deneysel bir küçük konut tasarımı başlatılmış; sonrasında bu süreç pandemi ve evlerde izolasyon deneyimi ile birlikte farklı bir anlam kazanmıştır. Tasarım sürecinde konut bir aktiviteler bütünü olarak ele alınmış, temel kriterler her 2 disiplin için belirlendikten sonra ilerleyen süreçte de tasarımın geleceğin konutuna dair ipuçlarını içermesi istenmiştir. 3.5 aylık sürecin sonunda ortak kriterlerden çıkan farklı mekan okumaları her 2 disiplinin gelecekte birlikte nasıl çalışabileceği konusuna ışık tutmuştur. Günümüz tasarım ortamında her iki disiplin birbirlerini süreç içinde tamamlamaktadır; ancak değişen şartlar göz önüne alındığında konut tasarımı sürecine farklı bir yaklaşımın kullanıcı konforu adına daha olumlu sonuçlar verebileceği düşünülebilir. Bu deneysel çalışmada amaç 2 disiplinin farklı konut mekanı okumalarını bir araya getirerek bir sinerji oluşturmak ve iletişimi tasarım sürecinin ilk çıkış noktasından itibaren kurgulayabilmenin yollarını keşfetmektir.

Evaluation of Interior Architecture Education Research in the Web of Science Database: Bibliometric and Science Mapping Analysis

The aim of study is a bibliometric analysis of the publications in the Web of Science database related to interior design education. The research was carried out between 10 January and 12 February 2023. Searches in the TIT-ABS-KEY field of WOS search engine. "Interior architecture education" (Topic) OR "interior architecture education*” (Topic) OR “interior design education” (Topic) OR "interior design education*” (Topic) generating 125 publications on the subject. Most of these were “Proceeding Paper” with 66 publications and in the top position of “Educational Research” with 65 publications; the “Architecture” category came in second with 26 publications. In addition, “Procedia Social and Behavioral Sciences” resulted in 25 publications and the “Journal of Interior Design” in 12 publications. Among the WOS indexes, “CPCI-SSH” contains 62 publications. The words most frequently used by authors are interior architecture education, interior architecture, design studio, education, sustainability, design, creativity, design thinking, design processes, and computer-aided design.
