“…Multiple homo-hetero mixed valance compounds have been suggested in the design of electrochromic devices, solar energy conversion, catalysts, photo-induced magnetic memory devices, chemical sensors, nano-scale switches with ultra fast write times and molecular scale rectifiers [1]. Despite the diversity of these potential applications, relatively little is known about how the properties of electron transfer between a single donor and acceptor is influenced by their inclusion into larger supramolecular assemblies.…”

“…The short As-Pt distances indicate As(OH) 3 is coordinated to Pt through As where the As III donated its lone pair to form a Lewis adduct with Pt II (Figure S11b). Similar coordinations of As(OH) 3 as a lewis base to metal ions have been reported for other heterometallic complexes, including [Mo 3 PdAs(OH) 3 S 4 Cl 3 -(OH 2 ) 6 ],[24] [W 3 (NiAs(OH) 3 )S 4 (H 2 O) 8 Cl] 3+ ,[25] and arsine complex [PtCl 2 [As(CH 2 CMe=CH 2 ) 3 ] 2 ],[26] with the As-Pd, As-Ni and As-Pt distances of 2.23–2.37 Å. Formation of a Pt-As sigma bond upon As(OH) 3 substitution for the OH 2 of aqua-cisPt may partially account for the retention of As III within liposomes (Figure 3).…”
