Phthalates are the synthetic chemical plasticizers with the most varied uses and are a source of concern due to their toxicity and ubiquity, so much so that even plasticizer-free polymers can contain them as non-intentionally added substances (NIAS). Food packaging is among the materials with the greatest impact. In this study, a simple protocol is proposed for the location and identification of dimethyl phthalate, diethyl phthalate, dipropyl phthalate, and dibutyl phthalate which is applicable to compliance studies of food packaging materials and for the associated risk assessment. Solid phase microextraction gas chromatography/mass spectrometry was used to evaluate the migration of four NIAS from food packaging to release media simulating food substrates. Three plasticizer-free polymers were used: two that were lab-made and based on sodium alginate and a commercial polyethylene film. Linearity ranged from the LOQ to 10 µg/mL; within-day and between-day precision values were between 12.3–25.7% and 21.9–35.8%, respectively; the LOD and LOQ were in the range 0.029–0.073 µg/mL and 0.122–0.970 µg/mL. Migration tests were conducted for different periods of time at room temperature and at 8 °C. Exposure to microwaves (MW) was also evaluated. All packaging materials tested had global migration limits lower than 10 mg/dm2 of material surface.

Sustainable bioplastics made from Tawaro sago starch are investigated in the study. This study is motivated by the global need to lessen the environmental impact of petroleum-based polymers and discover greener alternatives. Tawaro sago starch's amylose concentration, moisture levels, and ecologically friendly qualities are examined in the study. It carefully blends sago starch, glycerol, and an acetic acid and water activator solution to create a bioplastic. The study will examine these bioplastics' chemical composition, crystalline structure, mechanical properties, and reactions to UV radiation and microbial development. Researchers and developers are interested in sago starch, a staple meal in Palopo City, South Sulawesi Province, Indonesia, as a sustainable material. Sago starch is advantageous due to its renewable nature and eco-friendly properties. XRD, mechanical characteristics, and microbiological development in sago bioplastic are examined in the study, providing valuable insights. Tawaro sago bioplastic has no heavy metals, according to XRD. The mechanical characteristics have improved significantly, reaching 2,867 N/mm². A 48-hour UV radiation exposure within limitations changed the chemical chain, causing the improvement. Furthermore, bacteria grow swiftly on sago bioplastic. This research promotes sago-based bioplastics as an eco-friendly alternative to traditional plastics, promoting environmental sustainability. This research supports the global drive to create eco-friendly materials. Using Tawaro sago starch, creative solutions for a greener, more sustainable future are possible, with bioplastics offering a compelling alternative to existing plastics and lowering their environmental impact.

Testing and visual inspection of printed circuit boards (PCBs) and printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) are important procedures in the manufacturing process of electronic modules and devices related to locating and identifying possible defects and failures. Earlier defects detection leads to decreasing expenses, time and used resources to produce high quality electronics. In this paper an exploration and analysis about the current research regarding methods for PCB and PCBA testing, techniques for defects detection and vusial inspection is performed. The impact of machine and deep learning for testing and visual inspection procedures is also investigated. The used methodology comprises bibliometric approach and content analysis of papers, indexed in scientific database Scopus, considering the queries: “PCB and testing” and “PCB and testing”, “printed circuit board assembly and testing” and “PCBA and testing”, “PCB defect detection” and “PCBA defect detection”, “PCB and visual inspection”, and “PCBA and visual inspection”. The findings are presented in the form of a framework, which summarizes the contemporary landscape of methods for PCBs and PCBAs testing and visual inspection.
