Trends in the Hydrometeorological Regime on an Island in the South Atlantic Ocean (Tendências No Regime Hidrometeorológico Em Uma Ilha Oceânica No Oceano Atlântico Sul)

Abstract: ABSTRACT:The aim of this study was to analyze trends in precipitation and temperature on Trindade Island, South Atlantic Ocean. Time series from 1984 to 2008 for precipitation and from 1958 to 2008 for air temperature were analyzed. The regression analysis and Mann-Kendall test were used to test the trend in annual and seasonal scale of precipitation -January, April, July and October, which represents the middle months of summer, autumn, winter and spring, respectively, as well as for maximum and minimum air t… Show more

“…Associated with the information available in time series, trend analysis allows the knowledge of the behavior of a given phenomenon over time. This analysis is often used to identify significant variations in the series of environmental variables such as precipitation (Menezes & Fernandes, 2016;Durães et al, 2016), temperature (Salviano et al, 2016;Wanderley et al, 2016), evapotranspiration (Alencar et al, 2011), vegetation coverage (Neeti & Eastman, 2011;Lukes et al, 2016;Planque et al, 2017), among others.…”
