“…We have found, as others have reported, 4 that the rate of HDP continues to rise, perhaps reflecting demographic trends (eg, obesity and age). Consistent with prior literature, 5 our finding of a lower rate of HDP among patients induced at 39 weeks of gestation, perhaps due to a greater percentage of low-risk patients undergoing non–medically indicated inductions post-ARRIVE, suggests that, as the number of pregnant patients with HDP rises, the relative advantage of induction may rise similarly.…”

“…1 We have shown previously that obstetric practices changed to reflect a nationwide response to the lowered risk of cesarean delivery reported in the ARRIVE trial. 2,3 Given recent data demonstrating an overall increase in HDP, 4 we sought to confirm the ARRIVE trial's conclusion by using a national data set to assess trends in HDP among nulliparous patients in the 2 years post-ARRIVE.…”

“…HDP are a constellation of diseases (including preeclampsia, eclampsia, and gestational hypertension, as well as hemolysis, elevated liver enzymes, and low platelet count syndrome) and account for high BP during the peripartum period. The prevalence increased from 2.79% in 1989 to 8.22% in 2020, and these disorders account for 7.4% of pregnancy-related deaths 83 . Preeclampsia remains one of the leading causes of global maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality, especially in resource-constrained countries 84 …”

“…Furthermore, it causes fetal growth retardation, premature birth and perinatal stillborn fetus ( Al Khalaf et al, 2022 ). Current evidence suggests that PIH is a significant threat to more than 70,000 gravidas and half a million fetuses worldwide yearly, with a high maternal mortality rate ranging from 10 to 16% ( Bruno et al, 2022 ).…”
