Abstract: Path analysis and structural equation modeling (SEM) were used in 9 of the 24 papers published last year on quantitative studies in The Japanese Journal of Educational Psychology. Current trends in SEM application were investigated and the associated problems to promote SEM's correct understanding and application were examined.
