“…Concerning Cd, investigations of Swedish wheat grain samples from 1920 to 1980 showed increasing concentrations from 0.025 to 0.055 mg Cd kg -1 grain (Andersson and Bingefors 1985). The increase in crops could be due to several reasons: soil application of Cd-contaminated P fertilizers, atmospheric deposition from iron, steel and oil combustion, but also changes in agriculture separating crop and animal production whereby immobilization of Cd in manure was eliminated on crop production farms.…”
